Privacy Policy โ€” Draft

Working draft for review โ€” not a final published legal notice.
ROAD 1ST must confirm the operator's full legal identity, actual processing/legal bases, precise retention periods, and privacy contact before relying on this document for GDPR or Google Play compliance.

ROAD 1ST is designed to reduce distracting phone use while driving and help drivers view their driving and working-time information. This summary describes the verified pilot design; the final privacy notice remains under review.

Who handles information?

The ROAD 1ST operator's full legal identity and address must be confirmed before release. Questions can currently be directed to info@r1st.ie. For Fleet records, the employer generally determines the processing purposes (controller) and ROAD 1ST generally processes those records for it (processor), subject to a written agreement.

Private Mode

Driving protection may use GPS-derived speed and movement readings locally on the phone. It checks which app is in the foreground to apply selected restrictions. ROAD 1ST's checked private journey logger does not create fleet report files or store journey map coordinates, and the app does not read private call or message contents for app blocking.

Optional statistics: users can separately opt in to share grouped counts of journeys, broad duration bands, Bluetooth connection results, temporary stops, abnormal endings, app version and broad Android version over Wi-Fi. The choice is off by default and declining does not prevent use of the safety app. Disabling sharing clears unsent counters. Internet services may process technical request information, including network identifiers; absolute anonymity has not yet been certified.

Fleet Mode

Authorised Fleet operation can process driver identity, vehicle registration, journey and shift times, estimated hours, inspection records, defects and photographs, and fuel receipts. Relevant records are provided only for the enrolled fleet's authorised uses, subject to lawful driver and regulator access and controlled service administration. Previously recorded Fleet evidence may upload later when the phone reconnects to Wi-Fi.

Tachograph-card integration is not part of the presently verified pilot. Future imported tachograph records could include driver-card identifiers and recorded position points, so that functionality needs an updated notice and retention policy before activation.

Retention, security, rights and enquiries

Final retention periods for each data category, the data-controller/processor arrangements, subprocessors and transfer safeguards are under review and must be published before customer onboarding. Personal data must be kept only as long as justified by its purpose and any applicable legal obligations. People can request access, correction, deletion where lawful and other applicable GDPR/UK GDPR rights by contacting info@r1st.ie. Requests involving Fleet records will be referred to the appropriate fleet controller as required.
